Fighting Islamists 101
Who the Islamists are, what they believe, what they have done, and how we stop them. Free to read, print and share.
They want to conquer the world #
Islamists say it openly. They want a world ruled by Islamic law, and they mean to get it by preaching, by numbers or by the sword.
- Abul A'la Maududi, 1939: "Islam wishes to destroy all States and Governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and programme of Islam."1
- Yusuf al-Qaradawi, 2002: Islam "will return to Europe as a conqueror and victor".2
- Islamic State, 2014: "If you can kill a disbelieving American or European… or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever… kill him in any manner or way however it may be."3
They have a method. They preach, recruit, infiltrate, intimidate and, where they can, kill. And they have a goal: Sharia as the law of the land, everywhere.
Sharia: what they want to impose #
Sharia is the core of the Islamist project. Classical Islamic law prescribes:
- death for leaving Islam;
- death for blasphemy;
- flogging, stoning and amputation;
- a lesser legal status for women;
- second-class status for non-Muslims, who pay a special tax "being brought low" (Quran 9:29).

Know them, then fight them #

What you can do #
- Read the book and share it. It is free. Send it to everyone you know.
- Report. In an emergency, call 999. To report extremism or anything suspicious in the UK, call 0800 789 321 or use gov.uk/ACT. Reports are confidential.4
- Follow up. Ask your MP whether people who are reported are monitored, and whether Prevent targets Islamism in proportion to the threat.
- Vote on it. Ask every candidate where they stand on Islamist groups, Sharia councils, free speech and migration.
